A non-venemous snake endemic to Europe, Asia minor and the Causicus.                           An attractive and generally brightly coloured snake with brown                        blotches with black lower spots on a cream coloured body. Its eyes are                           reddish and do not have the split-like eyes of other species.                                              is mainly active during the day with adults reaching                       some 90cm in length.
