Libellula depressa

Libellula depressa.  (Linnaeus, 1758).  Broad-bodied Chaser.

A very common species found throughout Europe into Asia. Its chief characteristic

being a shorter, broad, flattened abdomen, with the female almost oval. Males are blue,

the immature female yellow, turning dark with yellow patches on central abdomen.

A very fast skimmer over standing water as seen in the photographs.
