I am planning to go to Cyprus for a holiday in the middle of March primarily to look for orchids. I am looking for good information as to where to search. I bought Hubbard and Scraton’s Orchids of Cyprus 2001 but the book is a bit out of date and the locations are often very general and not particularly helpful. When searching on the internet I came across your photos of Ophrys kitschyi at Akrotiri. I wonder if you could advise me where to search for them there. Any help that you can give would be most appreciated.

Dear Michael White
I can give directions but have not visited for a couple of years. But there is a good area.
Go towards the RAF base. When the entrance is straight ahead take the road to the left and follow along until there is a wood on the right.
There should be a place to park. If you search the hedgerows further-in over to the left you should be lucky.
The wooded area is also good for other species. I know of good areas in the Polis area if you are that way.
