Orchis militaris.

A tall, sturdy and spectacular orchid, the flower resembling a tiny human figure. The sepals and petals form a helmet with rows of purple spots vaguely reminiscent of a soldiers tunic. Local and rare in Europe. The photographs presented are taken from dune slacks in central, western Gotland, Sweden.
