Lestes sponsa

Lestes sponsa.  (Hansemann, 1823).  Common Spreadwing.

A typically small and fairly common spreadwing, and is a central and northern European species.

Its eyes, upper thorax and central abdomen are green above a metallic area. The male has blue

sides to its thorax and base of the shoulder and abdomen.  The female is generally all green.
